Accounting Associate

Role Overview

As an Accounting Associate, you’ll manage bookkeeping, VAT returns, and reconciliations while supporting managers on more complex financial tasks and reporting. You’ll be in direct contact with clients, helping them maintain accurate records and timely submissions while learning how to solve real-world financial problems through structured, high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate ledgers, journals, and client accounts
  • Process VAT returns and ensure MTD compliance
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Prepare management accounts and assist with year-end reviews
  • Respond to client queries and prepare financial data for internal review
  • Liaise with tax and compliance teams for cross-functional support
  • Keep accounting records up to date using Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting
  • Studying towards AAT, ACCA, or ACA is desirable
  • Sound understanding of UK VAT, bank reconciliation, and accounting standards
  • Attention to detail and time management
  • Proficient in cloud-based accounting platforms
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate across departments
